Laurens Joensen [pronounced as Lawrence Jo-Ansen] is a songwriter, composer and multi-instrumentalist living in Amsterdam. His father is from the Faroe Islands, his mother is Dutch.

After his classical guitar studies he got very involved American music, bluegrass, fingerpicking-blues and gospel. Ry Cooder is a big inspiration for him, not only his playing but also the way he finds and plays with musicians around the world.

Between his work in Amsterdam, he travels to the States when he can, in search of true music. He played gigs in Austin, San Francisco, New York, and Lyons, Colorado.

He plays guitar, mandolin and banjo with Fay Lovsky, a great Dutch singer and multi-instrumentalist. He writes and performs his own songs. He also works as musical director and composer for theatreplays. He worked with renowned Dutch groups in venues like Flint, Volkoperahuis, Schouwburg Rotterdam, DNA, and he made two shows for annual theatrefestival De Parade.

He has his second album out called Efterklang.
